🌟 Exciting Update Alert! 🌟   On April 24th, we had the privilege of hosting a ground-breaking seminar titled "𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒏 𝑴𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝑱𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒏-𝑹𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑪𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒔-𝑩𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒑𝒖𝒕𝒆𝒔 " at the Tokyo office of Anderson Mori & Tomotsune.   The timing of this seminar couldn't have been more perfect, as it coincided with the recent entry into force of the Singapore Convention on Mediation in Japan on April 1st, 2024. The overwhelming interest and engagement from industry professionals underscored the significance of this milestone and its potential to transform cross-border dispute resolution dynamics.   This half-day event was a collaborative effort, made possible through the support of our esteemed partners at JIMC-Kyoto and the Japan Association of Arbitrators. During the seminar, Mr. George Lim SC, Chairman of SIMC, and Mr. Vi Ming Lok SC, Deputy Chairman of SIMC, guided the conversation and provided commentaries to the mock roleplays. Alongside them were mediators and legal practitioners who played pivotal roles in the roleplaying session and panel discussion. We would like to extend our thanks to: Mr. Hiroyuki Tezuka, Mr. Yoshihiro(Yoshi) Takatori, Mr. Brian Chi, Ms. Masako Takahata, Mr. Aoi Inoue, Mr. Tomoki Yanagisawa, Ms. Chié Nakahara, Ms. Aiko Hosokawa, and Mr. Fumiyasu Miyazaki. 📝📝With Iraq's signing, there are now 57 signatories and 14 state parties to the 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 #𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (#SCM)! 🎆 Heartfelt congratulations to Iraq for achieving a milestone in developing commercial #disputeresolution in the country. We look forward to the day when Iraq ratifies SCM.

Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC) is pleased to have co-organized an event yesterday on '𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘈𝘷𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘈 𝘞𝘪𝘯-𝘞𝘪𝘯 𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘶𝘵𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯' with The Hague Court of Arbitration for Aviation (HCAA) and the Association of Aerospace Industries (Singapore) (AAIS). This joint collaboration is the first follow-up initiative stemming from the signed MOU between the SIMC and HCAA in February 2024 to establish Asia’s first specialized mediation framework for the #aviation industry. Thank you to the members of AAIS who attended this event! We hope you have gained valuable insights into the benefits of #mediation as an appropriate dispute resolution, as well as the complexities of #aviation mediation, including addressing cross-border challenges and enforcement issues. Our deepest gratitude to the Chief Executive of AAIS, Mr. Sia Kheng Yok and his team for their support, and to our wonderful speakers: Mr. Antony Lee (SIMC), Mr. Paul Ng (HCAA & Rajah & Tann), and especially to Ms. Mary Walker, who flew in just for this event. 👏👏 Congratulations to the 14 legal and business professionals who were empaneled as Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC) Specialist Mediators (SMs) at our Empanelment & Appreciation Lunch last Friday! To the other SMs who were unable attend their empanelment ceremony, you were dearly missed 🫰.   We extend our deepest gratitude to Ms. Charlene Chang, Deputy Secretary (Development) at the Ministry of Law, Singapore, for gracing the occasion and her inspiring words and encouragement. A heartfelt thank you to all our mediators, partners and supporters for joining us and showing your support at this special occasion. It was a wonderful opportunity for the #mediation community to reconnect with old friends and make new ones.   We look forward to seeing everyone at the next SIMC event and hope to work soon with the newly appointed Specialist Mediators as they embark on their mediation journey.
