🌟 Exciting Update Alert! 🌟 On April 24th, we had the privilege of hosting a ground-breaking seminar titled "𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒏 𝑴𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆 𝑱𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒏-𝑹𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑪𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒔-𝑩𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒑𝒖𝒕𝒆𝒔 " at the Tokyo office of Anderson Mori & Tomotsune. The timing of this seminar couldn't have been more perfect, as it coincided with the recent entry into force of the Singapore Convention on Mediation in Japan on April 1st, 2024. The overwhelming interest and engagement from industry professionals underscored the significance of this milestone and its potential to transform cross-border dispute resolution dynamics. This half-day event was a collaborative effort, made possible through the support of our esteemed partners at JIMC-Kyoto and the Japan Association of Arbitrators. During the seminar, Mr. George Lim SC, Chairman of SIMC, and Mr. Vi Ming Lok SC, Deputy Chairman of SIMC, guided the conversation and provided commentaries to the mock roleplays. Alongside them were mediators and legal practitioners who played pivotal roles in the roleplaying session and panel discussion. Iraq has officially signed the Singapore Convention on Mediation, a milestone towards developing commercial dispute resolution in Iraq. Financed by the #EU, our ongoing technical support to the Government of Iraq has contributed to this achievement. The Convention now awaits ratification and implementation by the Council of Representatives. Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC) is pleased to have co-organized an event yesterday on '𝘔𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘈𝘷𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘈 𝘞𝘪𝘯-𝘞𝘪𝘯 𝘈𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘢𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘰 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘱𝘶𝘵𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯' with The Hague Court of Arbitration for Aviation (HCAA) and the Association of Aerospace Industries (Singapore) (AAIS). This joint collaboration is the first follow-up initiative stemming from the signed MOU between the SIMC and HCAA in February 2024 to establish Asia’s first specialized mediation framework for the #aviation industry.
